A FullCircle L!FE Recovery:  Recaptivated by HOPE

Step Two Meditational Reading

“ReCaptivated by HOPE” – Step 2 – WE BELIEVE that only a Power greater than ourselves can bring us true healing and freedom.

There is HOPE for the Captive

A Captive is different than a prisoner.  A prisoner was incarcerated after certain judgement was pronounced and the sentence is put into motion.  A Captive is one who’s been caught up in something that typically blinds them and binds them to a phobia, a person or a harmful practice.  For the Captive, it is impossible to break free without intervention.  In fact, many Captives end up becoming prisoners.  Correction facilities are full of them.  Many others still barely sneak by without getting caught, but they constantly live in fear and paranoia.

While many Captives have people in their corner, a support network or family, they will not let anyone help them.  They will not listen to good reasoning, because, their will has been bound by someone or something else.  They have given over control of themselves.

We COME to the realization that, not only do we continually keep choosing the wrong or worst, but we also, seemingly, even with the best intentions, keep getting pulled back.  It’s like something is drawing us with a force field into the danger zone and we’re helpless.  Before we know it’s happened again!  This devastates any shred of hope we had left.

Logically, if only a Power or Someone greater than ourselves, can restore us, than we have to embrace the fact that a power, or someone worse than us, got us into these horrific predicaments.  We hoped that we weren’t such bad people.  We sure didn’t set out be.  Someone or some power pulled us down into the depths of ruin where we found ourselves fighting for our very lives.  This power or someone is more than just a force of evil.  This Being has a name.

BIBLE VERSES: Romans 6:16

– “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living?”NLT

John 10:10,

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”NASB

Luke 22:31 – 32, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.

But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”NLT

PRAYER:

Dear God, we’re not sure how we got here.  We are convinced now, though, of what Your Word tells us about the thief, the devil or Satan.  Please recaptivate us with a Hope that will not disappoint us(Romans 5:5).  Please break the evil power that has been destroying our lives.  In the mighty name of Jesus, Your Son.  Amen!

John 3:7 – 9, “Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.  The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.…”

DISSCUSSION: Share with your Sponsor/Mentor or someone you respect some of your “practices” that are harmful to yourself or others.  If you still cannot COME, share with them the negative thoughts that are “stealing, killing and destroying” your attempts to COME and find Hope for the Captive.
